Michael joined the Coast to Coast Positive People Project in December 2017. He was living in the Foyer in Truro and joined the project through an Active Plus motivation and confidence building course at Truro Library.  Michael had been out of work for over a year and his confidence was really low, so he joined Positive People to get help with this.

Working with the military veterans from Active Plus, Michael was able to build his motivation and self esteem and revealed a real talent for singing! He started to volunteer with one of the Positive People partners, Cafe Chaos in Truro. To help him to build and practice his performance skills, Michael was awarded a Karaoke machine through the project and this made a big improvement to his self-esteem – he is now even applying for The XFactor!

Michael’s ultimate goal is to go back into employment, but at the moment he is singing for Care Homes around the Truro area to further build and sustain his confidence.

With the help of Active Plus and Positive People Project, Michael says he feels much happier and more motivated within himself now, and more positive about the future. He would like to thank everyone that helped him to achieve this, including the Positive People funders, the European Social Fund and the National Lottery, through the Big Lottery Fund.
