When first referred to Active Plus, Army veteran Pete had a number of physical injuries and health problems. He was unemployed, depressed and, to a certain extent, isolated.  He started volunteering with Active Plus in May 2013 and has since joined the team as a part-time employee.

Pete lives in Shaftesbury, Dorset but has worked across Somerset and Wiltshire as well as Dorset, being willing to travel wherever the company needs him. As well as instructing and coaching on a wide range of courses, including employment and wellbeing, Pete organises and looks after the kit and equipment for Active Plus teams across the 3 counties.

When asked about Active Plus, he said:

“Active Plus literally saved my life. I can’t thank Active Plus enough for what it has done for me.  I look forward to every day on every course and can’t wait to get started. It is like reading a good book that you can’t put down”.

“Thanks to Active Plus I lost 2.5 stone in weight and that is without even trying to diet. It’s just because I am getting out and about more, and feeling better about myself”.

“I enjoy seeing unemployed and other people in need progress through our courses.  At the start they often look very sad and depressed but we achieve a transformation and help people to find a sense of purpose. Active Plus literally changes peoples’ lives”.
