Congratulations to the Pluss Positive People Devon participants who completed the latest Plymouth Confidence & Motivation Course.

We were joined by Jobcentre staff and our Seetec Pluss partners to hear the participants talk about the course and to celebrate their achievements. Thank you to the Lord Mayor of Plymouth for supporting this event and presenting end of course certificates.

“The course is very useful and effective course. It brings people together working as a team and improving leadership and communication skills. I really would recommend this to anyone”.

Teamwork, resilience and leadership are key life skills and what better way to learn than from the Active Plus military veterans who are using their expertise through experience to help other people.

Cornwall College Camborne Military and Protective Services students took full advantage of the opportunity to work with our veterans and demonstrated that they’ve got what it takes to lead, be part of a team and work together toward a common goal. Great bunch of students, full of enthusiasm and ideas and demonstrating lots of potential for the future.

One of the reasons people come on our Active Plus courses is because they feel they are lacking motivation and direction. But where does motivation come from? It is easy to look at someone that is highly motivated think that you have something missing.

There is no magic trick to build motivation- even the people that seem the most motivated from the outside have days where their own motivation is low. The key to building motivation is to look at the word itself- to build motivation, you must have a motive. On our 12-session course we look to find out what you motive is- what you enjoy, what challenges you, and where you want to be in your life. We are not looking to push you into work, but to find out what direction you want to go in and help you set your own achievable targets.

At the end of our last course, this is what one of our participants had to say: “I would encourage anyone to try this course. It’s been a massive step forward in my progression and I look forward to my next steps”. If you would like to make your next step forward, please contact us at healthworks@activeplus.org.uk.

Fantastic day with Cornwall’s Armed Forces Community Social Prescription Link workers joining the rest of the Demonstrator team, piloting their training package for ‘Social Prescribing and the Armed Forces Community’.

Brilliant to work together, see this training package coming to life and meet the team that is delivering this capability in Cornwall, Plymouth, Dorset and Durham Downs.

We are looking forward to continuing to work with you all!

Our Saturday Splanna! session with #ActivePlus & #Bodmin Way Youth Club & #StPetrocsBodmin Youth focused on team building and developing communication skills.

Each activity encouraged the group to work together and linked to important life lessons. Pete, Chris and Pete also spoke about their varied experiences in the #ArmedForces which gave real insight.

Best feedback was hearing one of the young people say, ‘I’ve had so much fun today!’

But the best summary of it all comes from the organisation itself:
