Soldiering On Awards 2025 Finalist!

Celebrating Dedication, Courage, and Community

It’s Official!

Active Plus are beyond proud to have been named as a finalist within the ‘Community Impact Award’ category – in partnership with BAE Systems – of the prestigious Soldiering On Awards 2025!

This announcement is particularly special as we are amongst an impressive line-up of other astounding finalists.

What are the Soldiering On Awards?

The esteemed Soldiering On Awards are now, incredibly, in their 15th year! Soldiering On Awards is a brand of X-Forces Enterprise (XFE), the UK’s leading provider of enterprise support for the military community.

Each year, the purpose of the Awards is to keep shining a light on the unwavering spirit of the Armed Forces community. Amongst the vast array of categories, from Family Values Award, Animal Partnership Award to Inspiration Award and Business Start-Up Award, unassuming individuals are honoured for their tremendous efforts and outstanding achievements.

As the Soldiering On Awards say themselves,

‘ …honouring ordinary people who have achieved the extraordinary…this year’s finalists embody the resilience, humility, and selflessness that define the very best of our society… whose courage, compassion, and commitment are nothing short of remarkable.’

Soldiering On Awards 2025

There is no doubt, these Awards are both notable and respected.

This year’s prominent judging panel was led by Co-Chairs of Judges Lt Gen (Ret’d) Richard Nugee CB CVO CBE and Debra Allcock-Tyler, CEO of the Directory of Social Change and, needless to say, the judging process was inordinately tough, thorough, and robust. As is always the case, the assessments were guided by “integrity and purpose”.

Active Plus are delighted to be one of 38 exceptional finalists selected, and are excited to be honoured at a special reception in July at the House of Lords, hosted by Awards Patron, the Rt Hon Earl Howe GBE PC. The winners will be revealed at a spectacular black-tie ceremony, hosted by broadcasting legend Jeremy Vine, on Wednesday, 22nd October 2025, at London’s Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel. We cannot wait!

The Community Impact Award

Active Plus will be one of the three finalists in the Community Impact Award – (in partnership with BAE Systems), alongside RBLI, and Scotty’s Little Soldiers, to be introduced and showcased as part of the Soldiering On Awards 2025 social media schedule. An introduction is scheduled to take place on the week commencing 15th September, followed by a recap on each of the three finalists on the 8th of October. Be sure to keep an eye out for these features a little later in the year!

The purpose of this award is to honour a charity, social enterprise, or other third sector organisation that has made a significant positive impact on the lives of specific beneficiary cohorts within the Armed Forces community. The Awards stipulate that this impact should be evidenced within the last three years.

Why Active Plus CIC? – Qualifying Factors for the Community Impact Award

Active Plus thrive on making a positive impact across the community every day. Our passion to help stems from lived experience and is driven by empathy along with a genuine heartfelt desire to make sure people are seen, heard, supported, and recognised for their skills as we help them to unlock their true potential. We aim to help people with what they can do, rather than focusing on any limitations they may have. Below are just some of the reasons Active Plus are deemed worthy of being selected as a finalist within the ‘Community Impact Award’.

  • Active Plus CIC delivers life-changing programmes across Cornwall and Devon. Since 2022, over 2,000 people, including unemployed individuals, isolated community members, and at-risk young people, have benefited from veteran-led courses that build confidence, connection, and resilience.

  • With 67% of our team made up of veterans, Active Plus harnesses the military skills and experiences of those who’ve served, empowering them to support others while rebuilding their own lives.

  • From mental health advocacy to employment coaching, our peer-led model has supported over 450 Armed Forces community members through tailored interventions, including award-winning social prescribing and skills training.

Active Plus’s impact is as broad as it is deep, creating jobs, reducing loneliness, and inspiring change in local communities. Through partnerships with the NHS, local authorities and the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust, we have proven that veteran-led support works.

Our ethos is simple but powerful: Veterans Inspiring People, which we do each and every day.

Thankful

While the Active Plus ethos is not borne from a need to be awarded in any way, we are of course all tremendously happy to be recognised for the positive and meaningful work that we do. Every member of the Active Plus Team plays a pivotal role in delivering our service and we are all committed to continuing the support we provide – always with a view to building on and improving our offering, and always with the view of having a positive impact within the Cornwall Community.
