Following a long and successful career in the Royal Navy and a 10 year career in the VCSE, Danny Daniell announces his retirement from his role of Managing Director at Active Plus.
An inspirational role model, Danny has successfully managed the organisation through multiple successful projects that have supported thousands of people across the South West who with Active Plus’ support have gone away with increased confidence, motivation and self belief.
Of his time at Active Plus Danny says “Leading Active Plus has been an honour and allowed me to use the skills I learnt in the military to help other people. Working in the community alongside other military veterans was just what I needed when I left the Royal Navy and providing opportunities for Wounded, Injured and Sick military veterans to help themselves by helping others has been very rewarding.

The organisation is delighted to announce the appointment of Laura Truckle to the role of Managing Director with effect from 2nd October 2023. Having joined Active Plus’ Senior Management Team in 2016 working closely alongside Danny, Laura is well positioned to step into the role.
Laura says “it is a privilege to be appointed as Managing Director at Active Plus. I am committed to taking the organisation into its next phase, building on the success of the CIC since it began in 2011. As an organisation we will continue to build confidence, motivation and resilience in individuals and communities.”
Danny commented on the new appointment by saying “Active Plus has grown and flourished into an award-winning organisation that is a vital part of the VCSE offer to the community. Laura has been instrumental in this growth and is exactly the right person to take it forward and to the next level”
