Active Plus Communities celebrated older people’s day by highlighting the contribution that our groups have made to their wider communities. This has included raising over £1,100 for MacMillan through two events that were planned, organised and run by members of the Active Plus Communities Groups in St.Austell and Camborne.
Prince Charles House in St.Austell was the venue for a fabulous BBQ and Fun Day that was also host to a visit from some of the group from Falmouth who were keen to show their support. In Camborne, Veor House was the venue for a lovely coffee morning with competitions and a raffle.
Our very own Tim Cocks (Managing Director, Active Plus) was on Radio Cornwall talking to Laurence Reed along with Christine Richardson from the Falmouth Group. They did a great job explaining what Active Plus Communities was all about, with Chris highlighting how the project had built her confidence to do things independently.
The Falmouth Group have undertaken Heart Start training, a valuable resource for any community to have. In partnership with the Dracaena Centre, they are also planning and hosting a Silver Sports Day on 19th October to encourage more older people in Falmouth to come along and join in.
