Over three weeks the Active Plus Communities group in Helston has been working on an artwork for Helston Museum’s ‘Joining Forces’ exhibition, funded by the Armed Forces Covenant. Under the direction of a professional artist, Tony, the group is creating a silkscreen banner portraying local Helston customs and links with RNAS Culdrose.
The photographs show their work in its progress. They plot the main stages in the creative process. Sketches are made and cut out. These are placed onto on a background produced by Tony in the presence of the group. Different layers of ink are applied with colours appropriate to the sketches being used. Much patience and effort produces the finished scene.
The were many oohs and ahhs during these meetings and we are all keen to see the final results.
